3 Margaritas that Will Have you Dreaming of Spring

If you can’t stand the cold, pour a margarita! Whether it is in a martini or a pint glass, margaritas are one of the most common tequila-based cocktails in the country, so it is about time to shake up the variety! Why just have a margarita when you could be sipping one of these classy cocktails while dreaming of sun bathing poolside?

Without further ado, pull out the blender and the tequila, and start mixing up some of these great margaritas by The Cooking Channel!

Pomegranate Margarita

Fruity and pink, this recipe for two will make you think you’ve fallen in love.

  • 1/4 cup pomegranate juice, store bought is fine, plus seeds for garnish
  • 1/3 cup Tequila Blanco (about 4 ounces)
  • 1/8 cup Triple Sec (about 1-ounce)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 ounces)
  • 12 ounces ice cubes
  • Margarita salt, optional

DIRECTIONS

Combine all ingredients, except salt, in a blender and pulse until frothy and well combined. Rim glasses with lime juice using a lime wedge then dip in margarita salt, drop some fresh pomegranate seeds in the bottom of the glass and pour margarita mix over the top.

Citrus Margarita

Sweet and tangy, indulge in a little taste of sunshine.

  • navel oranges, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
  • lemons, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
  • limes, cut into 3/4-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup superfine sugar
  • 1/4 cup Cointreau
  • 1/4 cup Triple Sec
  • 1 1/2 cups good quality tequila (recommended: 100 percent agave)

TO SERVE:

  • 10 cups ice
  • Fine salt, for the rims of the glasses
  • 10 lime wedges

DIRECTIONS

Put the oranges, lemons, and limes through a juicer. Pour the juice into a large pitcher. Add the sugar and stir to dissolve. Then stir in the Cointreau, Triple Sec, and tequila.

To serve: Pour salt onto a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the top of each glass and dip the glass in the salt. Fill each glass halfway with ice and pour in the juice mixture. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve.

Chef’s note: Farm freshness is the key here. Look for the citrus that is mostly in season and adjust the recipe. Tangerines, Meyer lemons, and key limes all have amazing flavor if you can find them.

Ruby Red Grapefruit Margarita

Drown all of your winter woes with a splash of grapefruit goodness.

  • wedge Ruby Red grapefruit
  • Coarse kosher salt
  • ounces tequila
  • 1/3 cup Ruby Red vodka
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup
  • cup Ruby Red grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed or from a carton
  • 1/4 freshly squeezed limejuice
  • cups ice cubes
  • crosswise slices Ruby Red grapefruit, cut into quarters

 DIRECTIONS

Use the wedge of grapefruit to rub the rims of 6 margarita glasses with grapefruit juice. Dip the rims in the kosher salt to coat. Set aside as you prepare the margaritas.

Place the tequila, vodka, simple syrup, grapefruit juice, lime juice and ice in a bar blender and puree until smooth. Divide the margarita between 6 glasses and garnish with the grapefruit quarters.
